The Story So Far

For those of you that do not know me personally my name is Luke Scott MacMaster. I cut my teeth writing music in high school as most kids do; playing in numerous punk and sad rock bands mostly just trying to emulate my favorite artists, I.E. The Smiths, Morrissey, The Cure, The Replacements and so forth. In college I met a group of guys that later became The Colour. The band consisted of David Quon, Nathan Warkentine, Derek Heule, Wyatt Hull and myself. Through our 4-year existence we toured the world with numerous bands like The Bravery, Futureheads and eventually even signed to The Killers label in Europe and EMI in America in 2005. Though as bands often do, The Colour eventually broke up due to personal differences. Around 2009 I started writing a body of new work that became The Romany Rye. A much different and personal approach to song writing.  At the time I started The Romany Rye I met some new friends who turned me on to Townes Van Zandt, John Prine and Guy Clark. These artists certainly had a large influence on my writing and direction in which I steered The Romany Rye. I toured the country for another 4 years under this name with acts like Dawes, Blake Mills, Band Of Horses and Delta Spirit. Although this project never really ended, I simply decided it was time to stop using the Romany Rye name and call this new body of work by its right name, Luke Scott MacMaster. The new album titled 310-602-7616 consists of Kelly Winrich of the Delta Spirit and myself while featuring a few friends like Matthew Followil of The Kings Of Leon, Blake Mills, Members of My Morning Jacket, Father John Misty and Danny Garcia aka Reverend Baron.

Hope you enjoy.
